Strategic Content Marketing

We’re humans. We like stories and storytellers.

In the time it takes you to read this sentence, thousands of pieces of content will have been generated by AI. In 2026, the number of AI-created articles officially overtook those created by humans.

But, in the UK, 72% of internet users say they don’t trust AI-generated content (KMPG). Plus search and (ironically) answer engines continue to prioritise content that meets the fun-sounding E-E-A-T framework (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness). Generative AI, by its nature, is a fence-sitter; you’ll be hard pressed to find authority, expertise or experience unless that’s what you give it (it’s only a baby, after all).

If I’ve got round to writing a blog about why historical SEO ‘best practice’ effectively makes it impossible for Gen AI to create anything other than substandard content, you can read it here. If not, suffice to say, the hollowed-out fluff being produced by ChatGPT and friends will not only fail to win hearts and minds; it ain’t going to get you ranking, either. If you think your brand and audience deserve better, read on.

Strategic content marketing in the age of AI

Generative AI presents a huge opportunity in content marketing. Not to create content at scale, in seconds, but to stand out from all the other identibrands by doing precisely the opposite.

I’ll work with you to develop content that truly reflects your business and the people who make it tick. We’ll make your website and newsletters something you’re proud to share, and your social feed something that actually drives traffic to your website (no, really – it is possible). We’ll establish your brand as the authority it’s meant to be, with its own voice, style and a coherent strategy that pulls it all together.

Over the years, I’ve found the sweet-spot for content marketing is one in-depth, long-form article a month for search and answer engine optimisation (and humans!) and a couple of shorter (500 – 1000 words) pieces, primarily designed for social media and email marketing.

I’ve developed a variety of tools to streamline the process and make writing a 2,000 word article – packed with authority, personality and expertise – a breeze. Using quick ‘interviews’, questionnaires and prompts, I’ll find the expertise in you and your team, painlessly extract it, and turn it onto something that sounds uniquely ‘you’.

FAQs

How does it work?2026-06-30T15:24:20+00:00

The exact details of the service will depend on your aims, budget and in-house capacity, but I usually create 3 pieces of content a month consisting of:

  • One long-form article of around 2,000 words designed to increase your visibility in search and answer engines (e.g. Google or ChatGPT), as well as showcase your authority and expertise. These articles are typically on an ‘evergreen’ topic and will continue to drive relevant traffic to your website for years to come.
  • Two shorter pieces (500 – 1,000 words each) designed primarily for social media and email marketing, which might cover seasonal topics or responses to events relevant to your audience.

The monthly service includes a full content calendar, which I create in month 1. This enables us to plan ahead and make sure content delivery is consistent, timely and strategic.

You’ll also get best-practice SEO and AEO baked in as standard; I’ve been writing for search engines and humans for over a decade (always humans first) and I know what makes them tick.

To make the articles authentic and original, I’ll spend around 45 minutes a month with you (or member of your team) covering key points on our chosen topic, and getting your unique perspective.

How much does it cost?2026-06-30T15:26:10+00:00

I offer strategic content marketing on a monthly retainer basis, with prices starting at £1,200 + VAT a month for 3 pieces of content, written with your input (approximately 45 minutes of your/your team’s time each month). I provide the content formatted ready for your team to add to your website or, if you’d like me to source images and upload content for you, this starts at an additional £325 + VAT a month.

If you want a fully ‘done for you’ service, with no input required from you at all, I work with several excellent copywriters and we can create a bespoke package that incorporates strategy and content writing. Just let me know.

Will you use AI?2026-06-30T15:30:28+00:00

AI has its uses in strategic content marketing and I may use it, for example, in large-scale analysis of previous blog articles, to identify trends or organise a 10-page webinar transcript into themes – but I don’t rely on it to do the writing.  This service isn’t about ‘content for content’s sake’; your articles are designed to do a job – whether that’s driving search traffic, boosting conversion rates or increasing engagement – and identikit, bland AI copy just doesn’t generate those kind of results.  This is why my service is designed to put you,  your team and your business at the heart of the writing.

Do you do video content?2026-06-30T15:30:52+00:00

I work with an excellent videographer who can create on-brand, engaging video for web, social and email, and we can work this into a monthly service for you.
